The government of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in Enugu State has expressed extreme concern over the situation facing Senator Ike Ekweremadu and his wife, Mrs.
Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, who represent Enugu West Senatorial District in the National Assembly, in the United Kingdom.
Senator Ekweremadu was referred to as a distinguished son of the State and a leading senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in a statement from the Enugu State Government.
The statement said that Senator Ekweremadu’s arrest, arraignment, and subsequent incarceration in custody in the United Kingdom had grieved the administration and the good people of Enugu State.
As a result, it expressed Gov. Ugwuanyi’s and the state’s best wishes to Senator Ekweremadu’s entire family “in this trying time as we beg the most merciful God to grant Miss Sonia Ekweremadu fast healing.”
The Federal Government of Nigeria, the National Assembly, and the State Government were all thanked profusely by the State Government for their compassion, assistance, solidarity, and legal action.
It went on to express gratitude for the well-intentioned prayers of Nigerians for a speedy settlement of the problems.
