According to reports, bandits in Taraba State’s Karim-Lamido Local Government Council have slain no less than seven soldiers.
The troops allegedly died in a forest near the Amdami neighborhood in Karim Lamido on Thursday night.
According to sources, the killed soldiers were on patrol when they came into a bandit ambush.
The murder was verified by Markus Hamidu, head of Karim Lamido’s council.
He claims that
“Bandits killed seven troops yesterday (Thursday) in the Amdami region. It is terribly regrettable. God be with us.
Usman Abdullahi, the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), could not be reached for comment since he was reportedly in the Muslim Holy Land for the hajj, but a senior police officer, who asked to remain anonymous, confirmed the occurrence.
Additional council sources who spoke with dsmedia24 expressed regret about the recent wave of homicides and kidnappings in the region.
They urged all levels of government to intervene immediately in order to put an end to the evil activities of local bandits.
They bemoaned the fact that bandits had occupied all of the open spots in the forest that surrounded the council.
It should be remembered that in May of this year, bandits killed six soldiers and a mobile policeman in the Tati village of the Takum local Government Council of the state.
