The Department of State Services (DSS) has urged the media, a crucial player in the development of the country, to use its platforms to promote unity among its people and rebuild Nigeria.
In a press conference held in Abuja, the capital of Nigeria, Peter Afunanya, the Services Public Relations Officer, announced this.
Mr. Afunanya insisted that once a political session gets underway, media should make sure that the game is being played within the rules. He emphasized the need to prevent hate speech, fake news, and other actions that can incite violence, fear, and division among the populace.
Because the media sets pace and agendas, the picture creator bemoaned that “the media should be up and doing in restoring and managing Peace in the country.
He reaffirmed that the Services would continue to carry out their responsibilities honorably to preserve national peace and stability.
Afunanya further stated that the DSS will continue to fulfill its obligations by motivating all relevant parties to bring about peace and stability in Nigeria.
The Separation movement, terrorism, fake news, hate speech, religious intolerance, and any other act that may cause Nigeria to become divided as a nation must all be rejected by Nigerians.
Nigeria is the only country we have, so we must do everything to preserve it united. We should all rise up and resist violence, crime, and sabotage against the peace of the nation. Afunanya made a point.
Afunanya gave further motivation to Nigerians by supplying his direct phone number for anyone to call and report any security information to the Services.
