Ike Ekweremadu, who used to be the Deputy Senate President, said that the South-East will not vote for Peter Obi, the Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, in the 2023 elections.
Obi was one of the candidates for the PDP presidency, but he left the party and joined the Labour Party before the PDP primaries, which were won by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
Even though Ekweremadu is from the same area as Obi, he said that the South East cannot risk voting for Labour Party in the 2023 presidential election.
Even though Ekweremadu spoke soon after it was announced that Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa would be Atiku’s running mate, the video is now popular on social media.
It’s not clear which news organization Ekweremadu spoke with, but a woman’s voice could be heard in the YouTube video.
“I promise you that South East will vote for the People Democratic Party” (PDP). I can promise you that. Peter Obi is definitely our son, but you need to be more active. You should ask yourself if Peter has a chance of becoming president. Can the East afford to let their votes go to waste? Can we afford to be emotional when it comes to our people, our kids, and our future? No”
“We don’t want to do anything we’ll be sorry about in the future. So, we think Peter is qualified because we think PDP is the key to our people’s future. So, as leaders, it’s up to us to make that choice. I’ll sit down with our people and tell them why.”
“Okowa is one of us, so there is no difference between Okowa and Peter when it comes to protecting the interests of the South. So we’ll go to the South East and give the people that chance.”
