Albert Adeogun, Senator Ademola Adeleke’s running mate in the 2018 contest for governor of Osun State, and Wale Ojo, the state party’s factional leader, led other PDP members to switch to the APC on Tuesday.

Mr. Ayodele Asalu, a PDP candidate for the House of Representatives in the Ede Federal Constituency, and Soji Ibikunle were also among the defectors.

The APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, welcomed the defectors during a gathering held in Osogbo’s Nelson Mandela Freedom Park and praised them for making the correct choice to join the party.

“We have accepted you with open arms and welcomed you into an environment of equality and fairness,” he remarked.

“We ask you to join us and let’s work together for the advancement of our country and our beloved Osun,” they said.

Adegboyega Oyetola, the state governor, who was speaking at the event, praised the new members for acting decisively to raise their political profile and noted that the APC is recognized for fair play.

“I congratulate our friends and brothers who have taken an important choice that will affect their political fortunes and careers. You have nothing to fear because you arrived at the correct time.
There will be no discrimination because you are already members. Senator Omisore is proof that our party values intelligent people and gives everyone a fair shot, according to Oyetola.

The defectors’ choice, according to Ojo, who spoke on their behalf, was motivated by the desire to support Governor Oyetola as a symbol of excellence and advancement.
