Kukah Criticizes Religious Misuse in Nigerian Politics

Bishop Matthew Kukah, the catholic bishop of the Sokoto Diocese, has voiced his disgust with the way Nigerian politics are being conducted.

He claimed that Nigeria is the only country where politics is influenced by religion, which is why power abuse in the name of religion occurs there.

Kukah noted that the misuse of religion has become a topic of interest in the polity while criticizing how religion appears to have gradually replaced nationality as the citizenship in Nigeria.

When opening the Christian Association of Nigeria Guest House in the state of Sokoto on Saturday, Kukah made this statement.

The Bishop claimed that inefficiency is what has made things important to Nigerian Christians.

“Inefficiency is another synonym for corruption,” he declared. Nigeria is a hilarious nation where anything goes and nothing happens. You hear of people stealing billions and how it turns out.

“The Kingdom of God is not constructed on material blocks, thus we must be a little constrained in the aggression with which we amass materials if they are of wicked roots,” Kukah said in his warning against accumulating unholy wealth.
