Because they squandered time haggling over his player, Arsenal is likely to fall short in their attempt to acquire Raphinha from Leeds United.
Melissa Reddy from Sky Sports claims this.
Tweeted Reddy:
“Given the interest in Raphinha, Leeds felt certain they would receive their valuation of £55m+ for him. Chelsea has surpassed Arsenal in the race for first place by agreeing to a price rather than negotiating.
Raphinha, 25, is now one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards.
Arsenal, Tottenham, and Chelsea were also interested in the Brazilian, along with longtime admirers Barcelona.
Leeds was rumored to be asking for a sum well in excess of £50 million.
The first English club to test the waters was Arsenal, who submitted a bid that was less than £40 million.
Tuesday, Chelsea intervened to scuttle the deal with a bid for an initial £60 million, with the ability for add-ons to raise the price to £65 million. The majority of the transfer money is expected to be paid upfront and right away.
