President Muhammadu Buhari has joined Nigerians in grieving the senseless deaths in the previous 48 hours in Borno and Katsina states.
Garba Shehu, the Presidential Spokesperson, said in a message:
“President Muhammadu Buhari is thinking about and praying for the victims.
“The criminals will be brought to justice, and they are fleeing for their lives.”
Shehu revealed that 56,000 Boko Haram and ISWAP militants had surrendered to authorities in the last year, and the number is continually rising.
“The fact that these terrorists and criminals have been driven to scavenge among our artisanal miners and farmers in order to survive shows that they have been cornered.”
“This will be of little consolation to the families and loved ones of those who were killed this week. “However, it is in these moments that we must be at our best,” he continued.
The Presidential adviser asked Nigerians to band together in the face of terrorists and anyone who do not wish Nigeria good.
“Now, more than ever, Nigerians must stand united in defiance of those who aim to divide us along religious, political, and ethnic lines through terror and bloodshed.”
“So, while we’re grieving for those we’ve lost, let us unite against these cowards, who are already dwindling in strength, number, and willpower.”
“Let us show them that terror will not sway Nigerians.” Let us demonstrate to them that Nigerians are not divided. Let us demonstrate to them that we will not be defeated.”
