Sule Lamido, a former governor of Jigawa State and one of the party’s founding fathers, has urged the party’s presidential contenders to prioritize the country over personal interests.
Lamido made the remarks while receiving three PDP presidential candidates at his home in Dutse, the state capital: Anyim Pius Anyim, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
He claimed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) has made Nigerians’ lives difficult since they came into power unprepared.
Nigerians, according to Lamido, trust in the PDP and understand that only the PDP can get Nigeria out of its current condition of insecurity and difficulties.
“The PDP has a responsibility in Nigeria because it is the only party capable of giving Nigerians hope and confidence.”
“Today, PDP has eleven aspirants, and both of you have qualified, but only one of you can be, thus God will choose for us, not me.”
“Our prayer is that God look at this country because it is bleeding, and we hate each other, therefore God send someone to save us.”
“So my prayer is that the Nigerian president be chosen from among you.”
The three presidential candidates for the Peoples Democratic Party were all in Jigawa State to solicit votes from the party’s delegates ahead of the upcoming presidential primary election.
