On Thursday, May 19, the suspect, a class teacher at a nursery and primary school in Ago Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area, was apprehended.
Ayobami Oluwatobiloba Runsewe, a 25-year-old teacher from Ogun State, has been detained for allegedly rapping his 13-year-old pupil (name withheld).
On Thursday, May 19, the suspect, a class teacher at a nursery and primary school in Ago Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area, was apprehended.
SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), told journalists in Abeokuta on Saturday.
According to Oyeyemi, the culprit was apprehended after the victim’s mother filed a report with the Ago Iwoye Divisional Headquarters.
According to the PPRO, the victim’s mother told police that the culprit defiled her daughter after luring her to his house in the Ayegbami area of Ago Iwoye after a school session at about 4:30 p.m.
According to him, the victim’s blood-soaked jeans were delivered to the police as evidence.
“In response to the information, SP Noah Adekanye, DPO of Ago Iwoye divisional headquarters, dispatched his investigators to the spot, where the teacher was swiftly apprehended.”
“During interrogation, the suspect originally denied having anything to do with the victim, but when confronted by the victim, he was unable to say anything more,” according to the PPRO.
He went on to say that the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the suspect’s immediate transfer to the state criminal investigation and intelligence department’s anti-human trafficking and child labor unit for further investigation and possible prosecution.
